Three generations of knitters

knitting together

During the second quarter of 2017, I had been producing video tutorials for the Knitwits club on how to make various knitting stitches, and decided it was high time I tested them out with friends and family to check that they were clear and easy to use. What better opportunity than a visit from my nephew?!

My nephew bought his iPad around and I lent my Mac to my sister-in-law and off they went trying out the videos.  It was great fun to be honest, and I took photos and videos of it all.

Even mum joined in – but in old school style she was following a pattern from a book, making one of her delightful knitted toys that she sells on our sister website, and also on her Etsy and Folksy pages.

The best part of this is that my nephew has never knitted before. He watched the how to cast on video, and also the knit stitch (garter) video.  At that point, he had already decided he was enjoying this new found skill, and carried on knitting for the next few hours.

Much to my delight, he decided he was going to take home the yarn and needles and carry on knitting this “thing” he had started. The next day I got a call from my sister-in-law. My nephew had decided he was going to make a scarf for his teacher, for Christmas!  He was really enjoying this, and wanted to learn more about knitting.

I’m thrilled that the videos worked so well, and the ability to stop, rewind and replay was a must for a child. Now that’s a result I can be happy with.[icon name=”smile-o” class=”” unprefixed_class=””]
