Measuring and choosing yarn for the dog sweater

variegated green

In the first post I talked about the dogs needs, so I had to get the yarn right and also make sure I had enough of it.

This sweater needs to be cheap, so rather than buy new yarn, I went through my stash and found a lovely green variegated yarn, that is machine washable. But did I have enough?

To work this out, I took the dog’s measurements, and referring to my diagram in the previous post which outlines the design, I knitted up a tension square and calculated yarn requirements, using the same method in my post on the topic.

Happy to report that I had enough yarn in my stash for this little dog… and now the knitting can begin.

Watch this space as the completed pattern will be written up and made available – and will show the completed sweater with “Little Bear” as he is affectionately known.
