Hearts Mug Hug – free pattern

mug hug with hearts

Valentines Day will soon be upon us and I for one was struggling to think of something suitable for my boyfriend. However, I noticed that he has a habit of leaving his coffee unattended and it gets cold pretty quickly…

That is where the idea of a mug hug (or cup cosy as some call it) came to mind. I thought others might be in the same situation, so I created a pattern that is QUICK AND EASY to knit.

Feel free to use and share the pattern and upload photos here of the ones you make as well.

MUG HUG PATTERN OVERVIEW

Mug Hugs can be made in a matter of a few hours. They’re ideal for using up oddments of yarn, good for beginner and experienced knitters alike – and make great gifts for all occasions.

This fair isle effect mug hug requires that you carry your yarn between the heart shapes, along the back of the work. It may be simpler for some to use several small balls of yarn, although carrying the yarn adds a little extra warmth. Be sure not to work too tight when carrying the yarn.
